Suggested planning: for each artwork, pick 6 page types from the list below—mix and match as you like.
That works out to 24 pages overall (6 × 4 artworks).
1Theme & content mindmap
- What is my main theme (one short phrase)?
- What sub-topics, keywords, images / symbols, and influences branch from it?
2Introduction of theme
- What does this theme mean to me (not a dictionary definition)?
- What experience / observation made me choose it?
- What mood, message, or question do I want to explore/express/confront?
- What do I want the viewer to feel or think?
3Idea inspiration / introduction of work
- What inspired this artwork idea (objects, photos, memories, news, places)?
- What is my artwork about (one sentence)?
- What symbols or visual elements will communicate the idea?
- What is the “story” or meaning behind the image?
4Artist study
- Which artist(s) connect to my theme or my artwork idea? How, in what context(s)?
- What specific artwork(s) am I studying?
- What techniques, composition, colours, materials, and meanings do I notice?
- What do I like / dislike, and what can I borrow or adapt?
Tip: include 1–2 images of the artist’s work and write short notes in your own words.
5Draft / sketches
- 1–3 sketches—each stresses some particular formal choices (colour, composition, line, shape, scale, viewpoint, marks, background).
- What emotion(s) to express or confront? How do formal qualities help with that (e.g. tension / calm, near / far, order / chaos)?
- What would you adapt or change from your sketches into the real piece? Why?
6Information collection
- What references do I need (photos, textures, objects, interviews, facts)?
- How will each reference be used in my artwork?
- What notes can I write beside each image (1–2 lines)?
- What gaps do I still need to collect?
7Experiment of media or technique
- What materials / techniques can I test (at least 3 small tests)?
- What worked well, and what failed?
- How do my tests connect to the mood / meaning I want?
- Which test will I use in the final artwork, and why?
8Difficulty and solution
- What was difficult (skills, time, composition, materials, idea)?
- What did I try to solve it (step-by-step)?
- What is my next plan if the problem happens again?
- What evidence can I show (photos of trials, notes, revisions)?
9Reflection
- What did I learn (skills + ideas)?
- What would I improve if I did this artwork again?
- What feedback did I receive, and how did I respond?
- What surprised me in the process?
10Summary of feelings & things learned / impressed
- What feeling do I have about the finished work (proud, unsure, excited, etc.)?
- What is one key thing I learned or one strong moment in the process?
- What is the most impressive part of my work, and why?
- How does this artwork connect back to my theme?
11Photos of artwork
- Do I have clear photos (front, close-up details, different angles if needed)?
- Is the lighting good and colours accurate?
- Can I add a short caption (title, size, media, year)?
- What details show my technique best?
Tip: keep this page clean and easy to view—let the photos be the focus.
